Day in the life on a typical Thursday ✌🏼 Spilled my coffee twice today but got a whole bunch of happy mail soooo…I’ll call it a win! 🥰

I’ve noticed I have some kids who have been struggling to get outside their comfort zone with their self selected books. So we read one of my favorite read alouds today by @readwithmalcolm + are going to win in sharing book recommendations with eachother more with a simple Jamboard. I’ll let you know how it goes after a few weeks! 📚

My students love to race each other to see who gets the most points and they strive to see their accuracy percentage increase each round that we play! The best part for teachers = a low prep + engaging way to engage learners in math and a way to collect data!

Free classroom website ✨ Have you used it?! If so - what is your favorite widget?!

I’m not sure if I’ve been living under a rock but how did it take me 10 years to use @classroomscreen?! It has so many widgets to help make my day go smoother! A few of my favorites:

- Random Name Generator
- Group Generator
- Timer (duh!)
- Dice
- Voice control 🙌🏼

I also love that I can add my own background! I simply took a screenshot of my daily slides that I use and uploaded it! That way it matches my usual slides + is something my students are used to!

I am thinking about making some free monthly slides to go with @classroomscreen - would y’all be interested in that?! Let me know! 👇🏻

It’s October in the teaching world + for me that means:

▫️My first round of sickness 🤧
▫️Parent Teacher Conferences
▫️Finally getting into a routine of actual teaching + units after ALL the back to school assessments + interruptions 📚
▫️Starting to feel like I know my students’ needs + how to help them be successful 🧡
▫️ All things spooky + mystery themed which I love!
▫️ Our very much needed Minnesota MEA break coming soon 🙌🏼

Quick Brain Break #2 🧠

Mirror Mirror - another brain break that focuses on movement, socializing + focus! This idea I learned from @movemindfullyconnect 🧡

▫️ Students find a partner
▫️ One student begins as the mover + one student is the mirror
▫️ The student mirroring must mirror the hand/arm movements of the other student, no matter what they do!
▫️ Add in a challenge with a tree pose to gain even more focus + a little balance practice!

A quick + easy brain break to use if you know your students need a break from sitting and listening!

▪️ Students find a partner
▪️ Practice the chant with them
▪️ Try again to see if they can go faster
▪️ Make up their own words ( double double ice ice, double double cream cream) etc!

A day in the life of a teacher on a Friday 🎉

…until 7:15 am and then the chaos begins at 7:30 so you have literally no time in the day to think about doing anything other than being present for students 😂

We probably had the best day yet of the year! My students worked quieter than they had all week, followed an many routines the first time and we finally got a little read to self time! 🙌🏼

🙈 My team forgot to order pizza like we had planned and I continued to call two of my students by their siblings names (after we had just gotten done reading a book about how names are important yesterday) but it made for some good laughs in the day!

Let me know what year it is for you! 👇🏻 I can’t believe it’s already year 10, but here is a little peek at our first two days of school! 🧡

📷 First day of school pictures 🎈Dress is from @shopsimplylovely + ballon is from (my teammate) & @michaelsstores

🧩 ”Who you were Made to Be” + decorated puzzle pieces that represent them that we will put together and hang on our door.

✉️ “ A Letter from My Teacher” + students wrote me a letter about them!

🚌 Used my “Back to School Celebration” resource for morning meeting activities & this one is a favorite from it!

✂️ “The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors” + played RPS train (one of my favorites) at morning meeting.

📝 “I Promise” + started creating our class rules. Students work in groups to come up with rules we need and then categorize those rules into one of 3 categories. I’ll share the final stages when we finish! 🙌🏼

This may be an unpopular opinion but the first week of school is a lot 🤣 and I always am itching to get started with more content! Anyone else?!
